The staff were superb, providing great service and doing their best to assist. The food was good, and they had an excellent wine collection. The Spioenkop tour was brilliant, with knowledgeable staff and the owner managing the challenge well. The location was fabulous, set below the Spion Kop hill in beautiful grounds. The owners were accommodating, allowing us to stay in a lodge room at the same price as the cottages. The atmosphere was relaxing, and the bar had a quirky charm.
Felt very well looked after, no complaints.

Beautiful grounds and excellent location. Close to a game reserve. The atmosphere in the reception area and bar was great.
The furniture and fittings in the rooms were old-fashioned and dated. No one was there to receive us upon arrival and we had to search for alternate numbers to get assistance.

We had the most amazing time at a lodge with a rich historical background. The location was breathtaking, nestled below Spion Kop hill in beautiful grounds. The owners were incredibly accommodating, allowing us to stay in one of the lodge rooms at no extra cost. Raymond, the owner, gave us a fantastic tour of the Spion Kop battlefield, bringing the history to life. The atmosphere was relaxing and the quirky bar added to the charm of the place.

I had a wonderful stay at Spion Kop Lodge! The setting was absolutely charming, with beautiful surroundings and breathtaking scenery. The room was spacious and comfortable, with a large bathroom and a great shower. Although there wasn't a TV in the room, there was one near the dining room for entertainment. The food served at meals was exceptional, with high-quality and well-planned dishes. The swimming pool, although small, was still refreshing and well-maintained. I also enjoyed the abundance of Boer War artefacts that decorated the main building. The highlight of my stay was the excellent battlefield tour to Spion Kop. I highly recommend this hotel for a memorable and enjoyable experience.
While the bedroom was clean and comfortable, I noticed that it could benefit from a refurbishment in the near future. Additionally, the bathroom fittings, including the shower and bath, were a bit outdated and could use some updating.

The warm welcome and friendly staff made our New Year's stay enjoyable. The beautiful setting with impressive mountain views was a highlight. The option to have a guided tour of the historical battlefield was fascinating and highly recommended. The self-catering cottages were comfortable and well-equipped.
The water pressure in the showers was lacking. The cold temperatures during the winter nights and early mornings were a bit uncomfortable.

I recently stayed at Spion Kop Lodge for a lovely family holiday. The grounds were beautiful, with plenty of birdlife to enjoy and a lovely pool to relax by. The hosts were friendly and informative, and the support staff were professional and diligent. The location was perfect, and the house we stayed in was comfortable and private. We had a fantastic boat trip and enjoyed a delicious Valentine's night dinner. The quality and quantity of the food served was exceptional, and the grounds and pool were in immaculate condition. The surrounding scenery was breathtaking.
Totally recommend this hotel.

We had a blast exploring the historic battlefields and learning about the crazy stuff that went down during the Anglo-Boer War. Oh, and climbing Mount Alice was like a real-life adventure - the views were insane! And let me tell you, horseback riding and boating were the bomb! We couldn't get enough of the adrenaline rush. Plus, the children's playground was the perfect spot for some friendly competition. Spion Kop Lodge is so rad, set on a massive 700-hectare farm where we could just let loose and have the time of our lives!
The only thing we wished for was a banging party scene for us young party-goers. Like, a cool on-site bar with sick beats and awesome cocktails would've taken the experience to a whole new level.
